iWay Adapter for Oracle E-Business Suite

The iWay Adapter for Oracle E-Business Suite is an easy-to-use solution that simplifies enterprise integration of Oracle E-Business 11i Applications with virtually any other system. The iWay Adapter supports the following Oracle E-Business applications modules:

  • B2B (Internet Procurement, Supply Chain Planning, Manufacturing, Exchanges, etc.)
  • CRM (Interaction Center, E-Commerce, Marketing, Service, Sales, etc.)
  • Financials (Assets, GL, Payables, Receivables, Treasury, etc.)
  • Human Resources (Benefits, Payroll, Time Management, etc.)
  • Industries (Aerospace and Defense; Automotive; Chemicals, Oil, and Gas; Consumer Packaged Goods; Education; Financial Services; Healthcare; High Technology;
  • Pharmaceutical/Biotech; Public Services; Travel and Transportation; Utilities)

Flexible and Easy to Use

When you are moving data out of Oracle applications, the iWay Oracle XML E-Business Adapter eliminates the need to write and maintain point-to-point interfaces between Oracle Applications and non-Oracle Application systems and data stores. The adapter interfaces with the iWay Service Manager that is integrated with multiple messaging transports including IBM MQSeries, Java JMS, Microsoft MSMQ, Oracle AQ, HTTP, TCP/IP, and SOAP protocols. The adapter handles both the creation of and the conversion from the Oracle supported proprietary formats and OAGIS standard XML formats known as Business Object Documents (BODs). These events are "trigger" processes within Oracle Applications, and occur as a result of a business event and place the result on an IBM MQSeries, Microsoft MSMQ or Oracle AQ queue, HTTP Post, BizTalk File receive function, or SOAP message.

The iWay Intelligent Adapter for Oracle E-Business Suite is part of the iWay Universal Adapter Framework, which makes it easy to integrate and reuse virtually any applications, data, or other information technologies.

Support for Advanced Queuing

The iWay listener for Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ) allows an organization to utilize Oracle's own queue manager and message brokers with the over 200 adapters offered by iWay; for example, providing integration with Ariba, BroadVision, Commerce One, i2, J.D. Edwards, PeopleSoft, SAP, Siebel, and Vantive applications. The iWay AQ listener detects the AQ event and accesses the queue entry for immediate processing by the iWay Service Manager. This process converts the format, enriches the data and sends it to the appropriate iWay application adapter, web service engine or application server.

Maximum Interoperability

The iWay Service Manager can also bridge business events between IBM WebSphere MQ Integrator, Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 and the Oracle Advanced Queuing system or Oracle 9iAS Interconnect middleware application integration broker. The iWay Service Manager converts the incoming document from the Oracle application, into the appropriate output document. The adapter will transform these iWay XML request documents into a number of XML and non-XML formats including cXML, xCBL, ebXML, SAP IDoc, OAG BOD, SQL, ANSI X.12 EDI, UN/EDIFACT EDI, SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA. This is a significant improvement over Oracle's XML Gateway interface because the iWay adapter technology integrates proprietary non-XML data, EDI data formats as well as the set of XML-defined document with Oracle 11i application modules. Oracle's XML Gateway is primarily designed for integration of Oracle procurement applications across B2B scenarios. The iWay Adapter also provides transforming, formatting and enrichment capabilities that do not exist with Oracle's XML Gateway. It should also be noted that Oracle's gateway only supports JMS interfaces, which limit the application in the Microsoft and IBM Mainframe environments. iWay interfaces to Oracle applications (PL/SQL, Java API, interface tables, concurrent programs, eCommerce Gateway, and XML Gateway) can be exposed to Microsoft .NET applications using standard WSDL definitions, BizTalk SOAP messages, and UDDI registry.

Templates for Rapid Integration

The iWay Service Manager is also integrated with Oracle e-Business Applications Suite through the use of the Open Applications Group Integration Standard (OAGIS) in both an input and output context. OAGIS is an industry consensus-based XML framework for business transactions. Over 200 XML template documents are provided for mapping Oracle interfaces into SOAP WSDL. Where Oracle does not natively support an OAG BOD XML document interface, the iWay XML Transformation Workbench can map the OAG BOD XML to the native Oracle interfaces that are exposed using the Oracle adapter that is exposed by the iWay Adapter through as set of XML documents or COM/Java connectors. The developer is shielded from the fact that different Oracle modules have different interfaces such as XML, interface programs, PL/SQL procedures, and concurrent programs.

The Application Systems Adapter for Oracle E-Business Applications is designed specifically to provide open access to Oracle Applications systems through interface tables and PL/SQL interfaces that ensure the appropriate application business processes are used. In addition to the Oracle interface tables, the application adapter can also utilize XML interfaces to move data into and out of Oracle Applications.

Adapter Benefits

The iWay Adapter technologies offer developers these advantages:

Rapid creation and integration of B2B transactions using XML or non-XML EDI formats such as ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, and SWIFT
  • Extend packaged and e-business applications systems based on Java, XML, SOAP, and Web Services without requiring any custom coding
  • Reduce the cost in extending packaged applications into a B2B trading partner management based on standards such as ebXML and Web Services
  • Provide a common development environment integrated inside of multiple message brokers and application servers
  • Uniform XML interface for all packaged applications thus reducing the requirement for specific packaged applications native API knowledge
  • Bidirectional adapter functionality to automate integrated event driven input capability to integrate real-time transactions
  • Document conversion from proprietary XML to standard XML, EDI formats, SQL, and RPCs to other application systems
  • Protects investment in legacy databases, ERP, CRM, SCM, and homegrown "legacy" applications modules
