The iWay J.D. Edwards Adapter allows an organization to fully integrate their J.D. Edwards OneWorld ERP, SCM, or B2B marketplace application systems with virtually any other legacy system, DBMS, ERP, SCM, or CRM application on any platform. High-speed, low-impact access to and from J.D. Edwards OneWorld exposes the critical business logic and data contained with J.D. Edwards OneWorld for reuse – the key to building a successful e-business or integrated enterprise.

Flexible and Easy to Use

iWay's Adapters present easy-to-use solutions that simplify enterprise integration of J.D. Edwards OneWorld Applications "business events" with virtually any other system. Whether you are moving data into or out of J.D. Edwards OneWorld, iWay Adapters eliminate the need to write and maintain point-to-point interfaces between J.D. Edwards OneWorld, J.D. Edwards World (AS/400), and other application systems to reflect an integrated business event.

The iWay Intelligent Adpater for J.D. Edwards is part of the iWay Universal Adapter Suite, which makes it easy to integrate and reuse virtually any applications, data, or other information technologies.

Point-to-point computing environments are often restrictive, providing very little flexibility for change. Also, as the computing environment expands to include legacy systems, ERP packages, SCM packages, CRM packages, EDI, B2B, and the Internet, the cost and complexity of application integration maintenance grows. In some cases, the point-to-point solution cannot be expanded at all, forcing the integration to be re-engineered. By using the iWay J.D. Edwards OneWorld Adapter Technologies in combination with iWay Service Manager, true integration of J.D. Edwards OneWorld with all your various disparate applications is not only possible, it is downright easy. Supported environments include IBM WebSphere, IBM WebSphere MQ Integrator, Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft Commerce Server, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS InterConnect.

React to OneWorld Events

In the case of a business event initiated by OneWorld, the iWay OneWorld Adapter "listens" for application events via Java ThinNet and constructs an XML document. These events are "trigger" processes within OneWorld and occur as a result of a business event in the application system. The resulting XML document can be placed on an IBM MQSeries, MSMQ, or Oracle AQ queue, or be sent via HTTP, TCP/IP or SOAP protocols by the iWay Adapter for integration into message broker or application server environments. The iWay Adapter uses the J.D. Edwards XML CallObject, XML Transactions, and XML Z-Table Inquire interfaces to provide synchronous and asynchronous XML bi-directional integration with OneWorld. The Z-Table Interface extracts records from temporary interface documents and creates iWay XML request documents.

Maximum Interoperability

The iWay Service Manager transforms the incoming XML documents to an iWay XML request document that is then converted to the desired output type. The iWay XML request document is the connection into the iWay infrastructure allowing integration of over 200 back-end platforms, systems, databases, and application environments, such as CICS or IMS. The iWay Service Manager will transform these XML documents into a number of XML and non-XML formats, including cXML, xCBL, ebXML, SAP IDoc, SAP IFR XML, OAG BOD, SQL, ANSI X.12 EDI, UN/EDIFACT EDI, SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA.

Rapid Integration

The Application Systems Adapter for J.D. Edwards OneWorld exposes remote business functions and interfaces as iWay formatted XML RPC request documents or standard connectors such as COM+ or Java JCA. The Application Systems Adapter supports bi-directional integration with J.D. Edwards OneWorld via Z-files, GenJava Business Functions, and direct database access. The Application Systems Adapter interfaces directly with the J.D. Edwards metadata and utilizes native J.D. Edwards business objects and functionality. It provides open access to J.D. Edwards Applications from any other application or data. In the case of Z-Table the import function is used to place requests on interface tables with the result returned as an iWay XML response document. iWay provides server-side access to J2EE Java EJB components through the J.D. Edwards GenJava and XML interfaces. iWay XML requests invoke J.D. Edwards Java business functions and format the response as a SOAP WSDL or other XML formatted response. Database access is performed using the J.D. Edwards OneWorld API, therefore adhering to the application rules and retrieving data based on criteria defined in the OneWorld application.

EDI, XML, and Web Services Support

iWay EDI Adapter provides full support for EDI formats allowing the transformation of XML, non-XML, SQL, and other formats into ANSI X.12 and EDIFACT EDI formats. The iWay EDI eBusiness Adapter provides full support for the EDI documents that the OneWorld Xe EDI interface tables supports, including sales orders, invoices, purchase orders, inventory, scheduling, planning, and financial accounting documents. The EDI adapter provides bi-directional formatting of EDI formats, XML documents, and SOAP WSDL documents.

Data-Level Support

iWay DB2/400 Data Adapter also provides support for J.D. Edwards OneWorld applications using Z-Table batch interfaces and native access to DB2/400 tables. Alternatively, an iWay Server on AS/400 can be configured to encapsulate DB2/400 access/business logic and leverage the iWay Service Manager to publish these interfaces as Java, Web Services, or XML.

Adapter Benefits

The iWay Adapter technologies offer developers the following advantages:

Rapid creation and integration of B2B transactions using XML or non-XML EDI formats such as ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, and SWIFT
  • Extend packaged and e-business applications systems based on Java, XML, SOAP, and Web Services without requiring any custom coding
  • Reduce the cost in extending packaged applications into a B2B trading partner management based on standards such as ebXML and Web Services
  • Provide a common development environment integrated inside of multiple message brokers and application servers
  • Uniform XML Interface for all packaged applications thus reducing the requirement for specific packaged applications native API knowledge
  • Bi directional adapter functionality to automate integrated event-driven input capability to integrate real-time transactions
  • Document conversion from proprietary XML to standard XML, EDI formats, SQL, and RPCs to other application systems
  • Protects investment in legacy databases, ERP, CRM, SCM, and homegrown "legacy" applications modules
